Aali Al-Riyadh
Set high above Riyadh’s landscape, Aaali AlRiyadh is envisioned as a cultural haven and landmark destination designed by Lahim, blending tradition, sustainability, and panoramic beauty. Positioned on the city’s cliff edge, the project is not simply a park but a living space where Najdi heritage meets contemporary design, and where nature, community, and culture are interwoven into one cohesive experience. Drawing inspiration from the palm, a symbol of resilience and rooted identity, the project transforms the site into a place of gathering, renewal, and discovery.
The design process began with an exploration of Riyadh’s environmental setting and cultural memory, seeking to balance modernity with continuity. Inspired by the terraces of Najdi farms and the rhythmic patterns of traditional crafts, the architectural language integrates shaded courtyards, pavilions, and gardens that harmonize with the cliff’s microclimate. These interventions not only enhance urban biodiversity but also create a sequence of spaces for leisure, reflection, and community life. Walkways, cultural landmarks, and terraces overlooking the valley immerse visitors in both the landscape and the social spirit of the place.
Beyond its physical form, Aaali AlRiyadh represents a strategy for sustainable development. Its architecture and open spaces are designed to foster resilience, strengthen community ties, and generate new economic opportunities for surrounding neighborhoods. The project emphasizes passive cooling strategies, walkable connections, and community-based agriculture as key components of its sustainable ethos. At its highest point, the site culminates in a panoramic overlook where architecture gives way to nature, offering an unrivalled view across Riyadh’s vast horizon. Aaali AlRiyadh reflects Lahim’s vision of culturally grounded innovation, creating a place where heritage, ecology, and contemporary urban life converge.
