Al-Dhahi Park
Envisioned as a green cultural landmark for the city of Buraydah, Al-Dhahi Park is a 17,200-square-metre urban oasis designed by Lahim that blends landscape, recreation, and community life. Situated within a growing neighborhood, the park transforms an empty site into a vibrant destination where families and visitors can gather, play, and connect with nature. The design is inspired by the resilience of the Najdi landscape, weaving shaded green spaces, play areas, and community pavilions into a coherent and inviting public realm.
The spatial organization of the park is anchored by a network of tree-lined pathways that divide the site into accessible zones, creating clear connections between recreational, cultural, and ecological functions. At its heart, a circular pavilion with a layered canopy structure provides shade and acts as a social landmark, recalling traditional forms reinterpreted with contemporary materials. Surrounding this focal point, visitors encounter playgrounds, open lawns, and planted gardens that foster both active use and quiet reflection. Native planting strategies were adopted to strengthen biodiversity and reduce water demand, ensuring the park grows in harmony with its climate.
Al-Dhahi Park is more than a recreational ground; it is a strategy for sustainable and community-focused urban development. Its shaded promenades, gathering spaces, and cultural amenities strengthen the social fabric of the surrounding neighborhoods while offering respite from the desert environment. By combining sustainability, cultural resonance, and modern leisure needs, the project embodies Lahim’s commitment to creating public spaces that are rooted in place yet open to the future. Al-Dhahi Park stands as a model for how Buraydah’s neighborhoods can foster well-being, connection, and resilience through design.
